Standing like a tree

In this masterclass I'll guide you through the core practices of Zhan Zhuang - standing form qigong.

Pronounced 'Jan Jong' the translation is known as 'standing like a stake' or 'standing like a tree'. While there are various postures that are part of the Zhan Zhuang form they can all be likened to standing like a tree; with deep roots, a powerful trunk and great spreading branches reaching into the sky. They say that in reality the practice of this form embodies growing from within...

Some of the benefits of this powerful traditional form of qigong are strengthened immunity, improvement in chronic illness, optimised daily energy levels and a natural restoration of the nervous system.

Discover the power of Zhan Zhuang and experience utter stillness and at the same time complete aliveness as you engage your innate power to release an extraordinary flow of natural energy that is dormant inside you.

The masterclass includes theory, philosophy and standing practices.

Qigong has its origins in ancient China and is one of the branches of Classical Oriental Medicine. It is closely related, but not the same as Tai Chi. Qigong activates our body's energy system and the innate self-healing capacity of the body and can be likened to form of moving meditation.

The purpose of the practice is to release physical, mental and emotional tension and stress, which allows the energy of the body to circulate more freely and with less stagnation and blockage.

We'll anchor our awareness in the three principles of practice - Body, Mind, Spirit. Presence, movement and intention helps us develop a deeper relationship with our Qi and to invigorate our self-healing abilities.

Qigong is a beautiful form of self-nourishment and restoration, the essence being to slow down, soften the heart and to do less.
